Grace Ravenbyrne (Hellstrom)

 

Grace A. Hellstrom, 55, of East Moline, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to the church where she was a member.

Grace Alice Ravenbyrne was born Dec. 24, 1947, in Los Alamos, N.M., the daughter of Stuart Albert and Loretta Margaret Kater Ravenbyrne. She married Robert George Hellstrom June 24, 1967, in East Moline.

Grace, who was a graduate of Black Hawk College's Nursing Program, last worked as a registered nurse at the East Moline Continuing Care Center. Prior to that, she had been employed in local hospitals and nursing homes as a PNA, CNA and LPN.

Grace was a member of the Women of Christian Service group at her church. She was a volunteer at Alternatives for the Older Adult.

Grace was a devoted wife and a good Christian witness to others. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, card games, and she was an avid collecter of 60s era smiley faces.

Survivors include her husband, Robert, East Moline; and sisters, Donna Salyer, Sonora, Calif., and Blanche Stutchman, Albuquerque, N.M. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister.
